"What have I done?"

While I don't necessarily agree that the answer to the question "What have I done?" is strictly addressed through an employment history.  This section does provide insite into my M-F 8-4:30 (or usually much later) activities.

Reflections
(3/28/2013 10:30 AM)

Probably one of the most incredible professional experiences of my life.  For public sector "hacks" the ability to be part of and help lead an organization that was responsible for not only setting state policy but also insuring its implementation is an experience one might describe as "Camelot".

When I left in 2001, I was the last member of the original Office of Technology team.

CIO - Workforce Preparation Branch

Minnesota Department of Economic Security
February 1, 1994 - April 30, 1996

As the CIO (chief information officer) I was responsible for all technology related efforts associated with the Workforce Preparation Branch.  The programs my unit supported included:  JTPA, EDWAA, youth, MFIP, Work Readiness, Weatherization, Energy Assistance, CSBG, and central server operations. During this time period co-chaired a group of ten states in developing a shared strategy for the establishment of a national system to support workforce program operations - codenamed "GEORGE".

Management Consultant

Minnesota Department of Jobs and Training
August 3, 1987 - January 31, 1994

Managed and/or co-managed a variety of agency and multi-agency projects and work efforts involving the strategic incorporation of technology into program operations.
